ISLAMABAD:Federal government top financial officials have agreed to set up a special committee to create rules for cryptocurrency. The decision was made during a meeting of the Pakistan Crypto Council, led by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Key officials attended the meeting, including the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Blockchain and Crypto, Bilal bin Saqib, and the Governor of the State Bank, Jamil Ahmed. Participants shared ideas aimed at making crypto safer and more transparent, focusing on responsible use of blockchain technology and protecting investors.
The new committee will include representatives from the State Bank, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP), the Law Division, and the IT and Telecom Division. Its main task is to review proposed cryptocurrency laws and develop a strong framework and governance structure. The committee’s proposals will be discussed at the next Crypto Council meeting.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb stated that the government is focused on building a modern financial system ready for the future.
