ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on Wednesday.

As per the notification issued by the cabinet division, the holidays will be from March 31 to April 2.

According to the Meteorological Department, Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated in Pakistan on March 31, as the Shawwal moon will be sighted at 3:58 am on March 29.

According to the Meteorological Department’s focal person Anjum Nazir, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will be held on March 30, when the moon will be 27 hours old and can be easily seen.

There will be a difference of about an hour between sunset and moonset, due to which the possibility of the moon being visible for an hour is clear.
