PESHAWAR: Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Peshawar has arrested a key operative of an international gang involved in the Libya boat tragedy in 2025. The accused was identified as Nawab Khan.
The accused and his associates were running a human trafficking gang from Africa and Gulf countries. The accused is an Afghan national who had obtained a fake Pakistani identity card. The accused is involved in the boat accident that took place in Libya this month.
According to the FIA, the accused, in collusion with other accomplices, had received huge sums of money to send several victims to Europe. The accused tried to send the citizens to Europe by sea. However, several citizens from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa died in the boat accident.
Videos, photos, messages and bank transactions have also been recovered from the accused’s mobile phone.
According to the FIA, the bank accounts used by the accused have been traced and will be frozen after legal action. While financial and other evidence is being examined to access agents living abroad, the accused’s name has been added to the passport control list.
Records have been obtained from NADRA to verify the identity of the accused.
The relevant authorities have been contacted to obtain details of the accused’s properties and vehicles registered in his name.
The accused was also found to be involved in money laundering, for which details have been provided to the Anti-Money Laundering Wing. The accused was arrested and an investigation has been initiated, while with the help of Interpol, the arrest of the accused involved in human trafficking from abroad is being carried out.
