WASHINGTON: During his official visit to the United States, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a series of high-level meetings in Washington with prominent think tanks, strategic institutions, policy experts, analysts, and representatives from international media outlets.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief used these engagements to effectively present Pakistan’s principled stance on key regional and global issues before the international community.
In his discussions, Field Marshal Munir outlined Pakistan’s strategic vision, emphasizing its commitment to peace and stability in the region. He shared Pakistan’s balanced perspective on global conflicts, highlighting the country’s role as a constructive actor working toward regional harmony.
He also shed light on the country’s robust counterterrorism operations, specifically referencing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous, emphasising Pakistan’s unwavering resolve and immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. “Pakistan has paid a high price in blood and resources in the global war on terror and continues to strive to make the world a safer place,” he said.
Addressing concerns over hybrid warfare, the Army Chief stated that certain regional actors are using terrorism as a tool of hybrid conflict, a tactic Pakistan has consistently exposed on global platforms.
In addition to security and strategic matters, Field Marshal Munir also highlighted Pakistan’s economic and technological potential, particularly in the fields of information technology, agriculture, and mineral resources. He invited international investors to explore partnerships and opportunities in Pakistan, noting the country’s evolving landscape and its potential as a regional economic hub.
Underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to international law, diplomacy, and dialogue, the Army Chief reiterated the country’s belief in resolving disputes through peaceful and constructive engagement. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued contribution to regional stability through cooperation and mutual understanding.
The meetings also included a review of the longstanding Pakistan–U.S. partnership, with both sides acknowledging the importance of sustained collaboration in counterterrorism, regional security, and economic development. Field Marshal Munir emphasised the need to deepen bilateral ties and expand the scope of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Participants in the sessions described the Army Chief’s remarks as clear, realistic, and impactful, and appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and transparent approach to foreign policy. His address was well-received, with many commending Pakistan’s strategic clarity and principled diplomacy in an increasingly complex global environment.
