PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is heading towards a financial crisis due to the non-payment of the differential amount from February to April under the National Finance Commission (NFC) by the Finance Division to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
It is reported that the Finance Division has given Rs42 billion less to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the NFC share from February to April, which is having an impact on the province’s financial system.
In this regard, Advisor on Finance Muzammil Aslam has written a letter to the federal government in which it has been said that during the period from February to April, the Federal Board of Revenue has collected Rs9,300 billion, of which the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s share is Rs849 billion, however, the Finance Division has transferred Rs803 billion to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of Rs849 billion, which is a shortfall of about Rs42 billion.
The letter states that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has repeatedly requested the Finance Division to immediately pay the remaining amount, but the Finance Division has not yet paid this amount, due to which the province is facing the effects of a financial crisis.
The letter written by the accused Aslam, states that the federal government should issue instructions to the Finance Division to immediately release the remaining Rs 42 billion of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can come out of the financial crisis.
