Fire ravages Afghan Refugee Market in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: A major fire broke out in the Afghan refugee market on Tangi Road in Rajar area on Tuesday, gutting multiple shops and causing losses worth crores of rupees. Officials confirmed the blaze was triggered by a short circuit, but no casualties were reported due to the swift response of Rescue 1122.

City Police Station SHO Behramand Shah and Rajar Police Post In-Charge Mujeeb Khan rushed to the scene with security teams to assess the damage. The market, which houses 30 shops selling Chinese decorative items, saw 8 shops completely destroyed and 6 others partially damaged.

Traders expressed distress as the fire’s aftermath left surviving stock unmarketable due to smoke damage, threatening further financial setbacks. Authorities are investigating while shopkeepers demand support to recover from the losses.
