PESHAWAR: Five people, including a woman, were killed and one injured in different firing incidents in Sawabi on Monday.
The first incidents occurred in Jahangira Swabi Road within the limits of Tordhir police station, when unknown persons opened fire on a car, resulting killing of a person and injuring others. The injured was shifted to Sawabi Hospital, where he was provided emergency medical treatment.
Another incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Sawabi Police Station, Guwatti area, when armed persons opened fire on a motorbike, resulting in the killing of two persons and injuring another. The incident occurred due to a land dispute.
Separately, a young man was killed when armed persons opened fire on him in the Topai area resulting killing him on the spot.
The third incident occurred in the Bhattiabad area within the limits of Topi police station when a woman was targeted by unknown persons in the Zaida area. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Zaida Police Station, Sawabi.
The woman was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Zaida. Police registered an FIR and started an investigation.
It may be recalled here that the crime rate in Swabi increased manifold due to unemployment and the share of sisters in inherited properties. Sometimes, petty family disputes also claimed the lives of innocent people.
