Five police personnel martyred and three injured in terrorist attacks in KP

LOWER DIR: Five police personnel were martyred and three others injured when terrorists attacked police mobile and check posts in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

Police said that the first attack reported in Upper Dir, when armed miscreants attacked a police mobile in Upper Dir, as a result of which three police personnel were martyred and three others injured. The injured personnel were shifted to the nearby hospital, where they were provided emergency medical treatment.

The second incident occurred in the Lajbak area of Lower Dir, when armed militants attacked a police check post. As a result, a police personnel Sanaullah martyred. While another incident occurred Kulal Derai area, where police repulsed the attack, while miscreant elements escaped from the site.

Terrorists also launched an attack on Shada’s police, in which Constable Sultan Zarin sustained minor injuries.  Police foiled terrorist attacks with a timely and brave response. The Injured policeman was shifted to the hospital for treatment, a police source said.

A heavy contingent of police was deployed in the area to counter any attack by miscreant elements. Police also launched a search operation to trace the militants.

The wave of terrorist attacks has been intensified after the Bajaur operation, as militants have been frequently targeting police check posts and public places to create fear and panic in the area. On the other hand, people have started migrating from their area.

The residents have expressed severe anger over the poor law and order situation in the area. The residents have taken refuge in Mardan, Peshawar and Islamabad to avoid human losses as a result of the military operation Sar-Bakaf.
