Five terrorists were killed while planting an improvised explosive device in the Tirah area of Khyber on Sunday.
The Khawarij were planning a sabotage attack near Salar Chowk in the Batai area of Tirah Valley when they fell victim to their own planted bomb.
According to sources, on the night between August 2 and 3, the Khawarij were advancing towards the Salar Complex when an IED planted on the way suddenly exploded, killing five terrorists on the spot.
Local sources say that the slain Khawarij were close associates of Usman alias Laram and Yasir Afghan, active commanders of the banned outfit Fitna-ul-Khawarij, who had been involved in terrorist activities in the area for a long time.
Security agencies have cordoned off the scene and started an investigation, while a search operation is also underway in the area.
