Forest officials handed over to anti-corruption department on physical remand in Mansehra

A court in Mansehra handed over the forest department officials to the anti-corruption department on one-day physical remand who were arrested on corruption charges on Thursday.

During a significant operation by the Anti-Corruption Department in Mansehra, several senior officers and officials involved in corruption within the Forest Department were arrested and presented before a local court. The court granted a one-day physical remand for all the arrested individuals to the Anti-Corruption Department.

According to the details, following public complaints, Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Hazara Division Khan Afsar Khan, along with Circle Officer Abid Hussain and other officers, successfully conducted a raid at the office of the Saran Forest Division in Mansehra.

During the operation, the following individuals were arrested: Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jawad Mumtaz, former DFO Mudassar Hassan, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Mamoon Khan, Muhammad Alam, Forester Niaz Ali Shah, and Forest Guards Zeeshan, Waqar Bakht, and Rehmat Ali. These individuals are accused of unlawfully felling valuable trees in government forests located in Jachha, Munda, Gachha, and Jabodi, causing significant financial loss amounting to crores of rupees to the Government of Pakistan.

Assistant Director Khan Afsar Khan and Circle Officer Abid Hussain registered cases against the accused, and all arrested officers and officials were presented in court. Following the initial hearing, the court remanded all individuals to the anti-corruption authorities for one day, with plans for another court appearance today for further legal proceedings.

The public and various social groups have commended Assistant Director Khan Afsar Khan, Circle Officer Abid Hussain, and their team for this successful anti-corruption operation. Officials have indicated that more arrests and crucial revelations are anticipated in this case, creating significant anxiety among other corrupt individuals.
