SWAT: Former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P), Mehmood Khan, has launched a scathing attack on both the federal and provincial governments, accusing them of competing with each other in imposing hardships on the public.
In a strong reaction, he said, “The federal government shocked the nation with a massive increase in petroleum prices while the provincial government followed suit by immediately raising BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) fares — delivering a double blow to an already struggling population.”
Mehmood Khan criticised the timing of the decisions, stating that just as people were reeling from the rising fuel prices, the provincial authorities dealt another economic hit by increasing public transport fares.
“This proves that both governments are united when it comes to anti-people policies,” he remarked. “These incompetent and indifferent rulers have completely disconnected from the pain of ordinary citizens.” He asserted.
He went on to say that basic needs like flour, electricity, petrol, and now even transportation have become unaffordable for the common man. “The ruling elite make decisions from their air-conditioned rooms and luxury vehicles, while the average Pakistani struggles to afford two meals a day and basic travel. This injustice cannot continue.”
Mehmood Khan warned that public patience is wearing thin, and if these unjust hikes are not reversed immediately, the people will be forced to take to the streets.
