LAHORE: Former Pakistani fast bowler Farooq Hamid has passed away at the age of 80. He had been struggling with health issues before his death.
Hamid played one Test match for Pakistan in 1964. He scored three runs and took one wicket, with best bowling figures of 1/82.
In first-class cricket, Hamid played 43 matches. He scored 546 runs, with a highest score of 38. He took 111 wickets, with best bowling figures of 7/16. His bowling average was 25.21, and his economy rate was 3.29.
Hamid also played for teams like Lahore and Pakistan International Airlines.
In 2020, he revealed that he left cricket in 1969 at the age of 25 due to disappointment caused by the politics in the sport.
