Galiyat to get sustainable tourism master plan

ABBOTTABAD: On the special directives of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a high-level technical team from the Urban Policy Unit (UPU) visited the office of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA). The team held a detailed meeting with GDA Director General Shahrukh Ali.

The discussion focused on developing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tourist zones, protecting the environment, and promoting modern urban planning. Both sides agreed to prepare a comprehensive, practical, and sustainable master plan for Galiyat and other potential tourist sites across the province.

The plan aims to preserve natural beauty, upgrade infrastructure, and provide modern facilities to tourists.

GDA Director General Shahrukh Ali said Galiyat is one of the most scenic tourist spots in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that a well-crafted master plan will not only boost development but also strengthen the local economy and create jobs. He appreciated UPU’s efforts and assured full cooperation.

UPU representatives said the master plan will include land use management, transport networks, zoning of tourist areas, and eco-friendly development strategies. Field surveys, data collection, and consultations with relevant departments will begin soon.

GDA and UPU will jointly finalize Galiyat’s land use and zoning master plan. The initiative will ensure planned development and long-term sustainability.

This project reflects the provincial government’s vision to place Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the global tourism map and prioritize the well-being of local communities.
