German consulate resumes visa processing for Pakistan

Points-based system offers Pakistani professionals easier pathway to work in Europe's strongest economy

KARACHI: The German Consulate has resumed visa services in Karachi after a temporary suspension due to security, technical, and administrative issues.

In an official statement, the consulate confirmed that all visa categories—including those for students, business travelers, and other non-European citizens—are now being processed again. A spokesperson said the move aims to rebuild ties between Pakistan and Germany in education, trade, and other sectors.

Applicants can now schedule appointments for interviews, but officials urge them to arrive on time with complete documents to avoid delays.

While the consulate did not detail the exact reasons for the earlier halt, sources suggest enhanced security measures may have caused the pause. With services now restored, Pakistani citizens can once again apply for visas.
