The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has approved the increase in prices for domestic consumers of natural gas, including fixed charges, and a new price framework for other consumers.
According to private TV Express News, sources in the Federal Ministry of Finance said that the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee, chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved a new framework for natural gas prices to implement another condition set under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.
Under the new framework, the federal government will announce the price of gas after 40 days of OGRA’s notification.
Officials said that the new price framework approved by the ECC is part of the IMF program.
According to officials, the ECC has decided to maintain the price for domestic consumers for the new fiscal year, while sources said that an increase in fixed charges for domestic consumers has also been approved.
