Governor Kundi reviews relief efforts in flood-affected Buner

BUNER: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, reviewed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in Buner district.

During his visit to rain and flood-affected areas of Buner, the Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assessed the damage caused by the recent floods and lauded the efforts of civil and military institutions working on the ground.

He also inaugurated water filtration plants and mobile health units provided by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) KP chapter, and personally distributed relief goods among the affected families.

The Governor was given a detailed briefing on flood damages, response efforts, and rehabilitation plans at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He appreciated the dedication and service of teams from the KP Boy Scouts Association and PRCS, who have been actively involved in relief operations.

On the occasion, Governor Kundi said that the real challenge lies in the restoration of homes and livelihoods in the flood-affected areas of the district.

He also noted that there is currently no established mechanism for advance warnings of cloudbursts, stressing the need for improved early warning systems in the future.

Governor Kundi paid tribute to teacher Zahoor, who was martyred while saving lives during the floods. He announced that he would recommend the Federal Government to confer a national award on the late teacher and other individuals who risked their lives to rescue others.

He also announced that electricity bills for flood-hit areas have been waived for one month by the Federal Government, and affected families will also be supported through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
