LAHORE: Authorities in Punjab have deported 13,442 illegal foreign nationals, including Afghans, as part of an ongoing repatriation campaign. According to Punjab Police, 13,520 individuals were initially processed at holding centers, with 78 still awaiting deportation as of the latest update.
To facilitate the operation, the provincial government has established 5 holding centers in Lahore and 46 across Punjab. Security remains heightened to ensure a smooth and organized process.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the deportations comply with international laws and uphold human rights standards. “The evacuation is being conducted with strict adherence to legal and humanitarian protocols,” he stated.
The campaign reflects Pakistan’s broader effort to regulate undocumented migration while balancing security and humanitarian concerns.
