Govt moves to transform FC into nationwide federal force

The federal government has decided to transform the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a nationwide federal force. Sources indicate that an ordinance will be issued to extend the jurisdiction of the FC across Pakistan once the federal cabinet approves amendments to the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915.

The force will be renamed the Federal Constabulary and will have the authority to operate in all four provinces, as well as in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Following the implementation of the ordinance, recruitment for the new force will take place nationwide, and offices will be established across the country.

Under the reorganisation framework, the Federal Constabulary will be led by officers from the Police Service of Pakistan. According to defence experts, the establishment of the Federal Constabulary will significantly enhance the country’s internal security and public order. This initiative is viewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen and centralise internal security mechanisms at the national level.
