ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) prepared a plan for the sale of assets of the Utility Store Corporation and approved a package of Rs 30.216 billion for the closure of Utility Stores to benefit its employees.
A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, in which the Ministry of Industries and Production presented a summary of the package for Utility Stores employees.
The Economic Coordination Committee decided to complete the closure process in a transparent and orderly manner and approved the sale of the assets of Utility Stores in the current financial year itself. The ECC said that the closure expenses will be met from the proceeds of the sale, and protecting the rights and welfare of employees is the government’s top priority. The Economic Coordination Committee has directed that the stores’ dues, compensation and arrears be paid immediately.
Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Jam Kamal Khan and others attended the meeting, while Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari participated in the meeting online.
