ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to remove the Rs 35 monthly PTV fee from electricity bills, providing relief to millions of consumers. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to officially announce the decision soon.
Currently, around 40 million electricity consumers across Pakistan pay Rs 35 per month as a PTV license fee, generating approximately Rs 1.5 billion monthly and Rs 16 billion annually. The removal of this fee will benefit domestic, commercial, and all other consumer categories.
Sources say the move aims to reduce financial pressure on households and businesses, leading to lower electricity bills. The decision reflects the government’s effort to ease economic burdens on the public.
