Grand Jirga held to address law and order situation in Bajaur

A grand jirga was held in Kharke Civil Colony, the headquarters of Bajaur district, on the current law and order situation in the district, in which the Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, Commandant Bajaur Scouts, elders of Bajaur district, political leadership and scholars participated.
A detailed discussion was held in the jirga on the current deteriorating law and order situation.
Sector Commander Brigadier Saad and Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan told the jirga that anti-state elements and extremist groups are continuously targeting the district administration, police personnel, as well as regional leaders and political leaders, to damage the peace and stability of the area, spread terror and create a rift between the state and the nation.
The participants of the jirga mentioned the invaluable sacrifices of the people of Bajaur, elders and other representatives for peace in 2008 and later and said that the need of the hour is to strengthen the ties between the people and the government and law enforcement agencies.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration of Bajaur, police and the armed forces of Pakistan are committed to ensuring the safety and security of their citizens and a strict policy against terrorism will be adopted, according to which targeted action will be taken against the extremists and their facilitators in all parts of Bajaur district.
He said that the main objective of this policy is to completely eliminate terrorism in the Bajaur district and restore sustainable peace.
Sector Commander Brigadier Saad and DC Bajaur Shahid Ali Khan said that the district administration and the armed forces are well aware of the problems faced by the local population and are very sensitive to the threats posed to the citizens, therefore these operations will be carried out with utmost caution and precision based on credible intelligence information so that there is no possibility of harming innocent citizens.
It was also clarified that the population will not be displaced anywhere during the targeted operations. Furthermore, cooperation between the government machinery and all nations is key to defeating these miscreants.
