HARAIPUR: Recent monsoon rains have significantly increased water levels at Tarbela Dam, improving both water storage and electricity production.
Officials report the reservoir’s level has risen to 1,498.65 feet – 96 feet above the dead level – with 293,000 cusecs of water flowing in daily. Currently, 150,000 cusecs are being released to meet irrigation and energy needs.
All 17 power-generating units are operational, producing 2,613 MW of electricity for the national grid. Authorities say if rains continue, power output may increase further, potentially easing Pakistan’s energy crisis.
