PESHAWAR: Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has caused severe disruptions in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Low-lying areas in Nowshera, Swabi, Shangla, and Haripur have been flooded, with rivers and canals overflowing, leading to urban flooding.
In Nowshera, neighborhoods like Amangarh, Labor Colony, Hafizabad, and Masalabad have seen canal water entering homes, forcing residents to drain the water themselves. Similar flooding has been reported in Nowshera Kalan due to overflowing rivers.
The heavy rains have also caused power outages in many areas as electricity feeders tripped, leaving people without electricity overnight. While the rain has brought cooler weather to Haripur, major roads and highways remain submerged, resembling lakes.
The Meteorological Department forecasts more light rain in the region. Rescue teams are on high alert, and authorities have advised people to avoid rivers and low-lying areas for safety.
