Heavy rains predicted in KP from September 07

PESHAWAR: The weather situation has once again become worrisome for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a high alert across the province, predicting a series of heavy rains, wind and thunderstorms from September 07 to September 09.

According to the PDMA, intermittent heavy rains are expected in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while heavy rains with wind and thunderstorms are likely in some places.

In view of the weather situation, instructions have been issued to the concerned district administration and all rescue agencies to remain alert. Heavy rain is expected in Galiat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Kolai Palace, Abbottabad, Buner, Bajaur, Battagram, Hangu, Torghar, Haripur, Karak, Chitral, Dir, Swat and Shangla.

Heavy rain has been predicted in Khyber, Kohat, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Malakand, Mohmand, Orakzai, Bannu, Waziristan and Tank. There is a risk of flash floods in local drains, rainwater springs and rivers.

According to the PDMA, landslides are expected in mountainous areas while urban flooding is also expected in urban and low-lying areas.

There is a risk of damage to vulnerable houses, electricity poles, billboards and solar panels due to strong winds and thunderstorms, in view of which the administration has been instructed to take precautionary measures.
