SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: In a rare show of public support, the transfer of an honest police officer was reversed in South Waziristan after locals protested. Usman Mehsud, the in-charge of Ragzai police station in Barmal tehsil, will now remain at his post following strong opposition to his reassignment.
Usman Mehsud, known for his dedication and effectiveness, played a key role in reducing crime and improving law and order in the area. His work earned him huge public appreciation, leading locals to demand he stay.
After strong public backlash, the District Police Officer (DPO) Khankhel withdrew Mehsud’s transfer order. The DPO stated that the police respect public sentiment and value the services of honest officers like Mehsud.
This incident highlights how community support can protect good governance. Locals expressed joy and relief after the decision, proving that people’s voices matter.
The police department’s move sets an example—rewarding integrity and listening to citizens.
