ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the “Digital Youth Hub” in Islamabad on Thursday, calling it a “comprehensive platform” for youth.

Prime Minister said in his address that the platform will connect young people with jobs, education, and skills development

Pakistan’s youth make up 64% of the population. This provides a major opportunity for economic growth through entrepreneurship, innovation, and diversification.

The Digital Youth Hub is a joint initiative of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and UNICEF. It will offer employment opportunities, educational scholarships, entrepreneurship programs, and technical skills.

At the launch, Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of modern technology. He highlighted the need for IT, artificial intelligence, and vocational training to equip young people with the right skills.

“The Digital Youth Hub is the beginning of a bright future for Pakistan’s youth,” he said. He said that productive employment is the government’s top priority.

Sharif vowed to fight for youth rights by providing education and training in collaboration with provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He described Pakistan’s youth bulge as both a challenge and an opportunity. He urged the use of the latest technology to develop their potential.

Pakistan faces high youth unemployment, poor access to quality education, and a lack of vocational training. This underutilized potential increases the risk of social unrest.

More than 800,000 Pakistanis left the country for jobs in 2022, according to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment. This number was 625,876 in 2019 and 382,439 in 2018.

The Digital Youth Hub aims to create opportunities at home and reduce the need for migration.
