PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati, in a video message, disclosed that, in December 2022, PTI founder Imran Khan had instructed him to initiate dialogue with the Army Chief.
Swati revealed that, following this directive, he attempted to reach the Army Chief through his mentor and also made efforts through President Arif Alvi.
Swati explained that the move came after a discussion with party leaders who were seeking to delay the PTI’s planned August 22 rally. He said he approached Imran Khan, urging him to postpone the event and allowing negotiations with senior figures such as Dr. Alvi and others to take place.
Khan, according to Swati, agreed to the postponement and expressed confidence in his ability to handle the negotiations without needing further instructions on whom to contact.
Swati also addressed allegations from party leaders and YouTubers questioning his whereabouts during the November 26 protest. He clarified that he was in Attock Jail on that day and challenged critics to reveal their own locations. “Attempts are being made to destroy Pakistan by spreading lies,” Swati stated.
In his message, Swati reaffirmed his commitment to PTI, citing his sacrifices for the party and expressing his unwavering support for its future endeavours.
