PESHAWAR: Opposition Leader in the KP Assembly, Ibadullah, said the current budget presented by the provincial government will be its last, citing poor governance and public dissatisfaction.
During the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session, Opposition Leader Dr Ibadullah severely criticised the provincial government and called the budget unrealistic, debt-based and unworkable.
In his speech, he said, “I predict that this will be the twelfth and last budget of PTI.”
He said that the PTI government made promises against corruption, raised slogans of health, education and employment, but after coming to power, it acted contrary to all these promises.
He raised questions on declaring the budget as “surplus” and said, “When 93 per cent of the budget is based on federal and debt and only 7 per cent is the provincial share, how can it be a surplus?”
He added that your expenses are 12 per cent, and your development is 1 per cent. How is this a surplus budget?
Comparing the 2013 budget and the current budget, Dr. Ibadullah said that in 2013, the budget was 319 billion, today it is said to be 1.6 trillion, but nothing is visible on the ground. Where did the money go?
He also expressed serious concern over the increase in provincial debts and said that during the ANP era, the debt was 150 billion; today it has reached 800 billion, that is, an increase of 600 per cent.
He said that BRT is a snake of corruption. If BRT is beneficial, then why is a subsidy being given? The Malam Jabba scandal inquiry was conducted, the lease was full of corruption, and the project was also illegal.
The opposition leader also said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the only province where there is an advisor for anti-corruption. A letter was written to the advisor two years ago, but he says he does not know.
Addressing the provincial government, he said that you are not against corruption, but against those who do not commit corruption. Talking about education, he said that only 14 per cent of the money allocated by the government was spent, and even today the situation is that four children are forced to read from one book.
