Ibadullah urges speaker to convene meeting for oath-taking of reserved members

PESHAWAR: The opposition Leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr Ibadullah, has written a letter to Speaker Babar Saleem Swati requesting an immediate session of the assembly so that the oath can be taken from the elected women and minority members on reserved seats.
According to sources, Ibadullah stated in his letter that the Senate elections are scheduled for July 21 and that the new members must take the oath before voting.
He emphasised that, in light of the Supreme Court’s and the Election Commission’s decisions, the assembly session should be convened immediately so that the constitutional process can be completed.
The opposition leader said that it is their constitutional and democratic right to have representation in the assembly and the right to vote in the Senate elections for successful women and minority members on reserved seats.
