ICA president claims billions embezzled in KP education projects

Corruption in Education Dept: Calls for High-Level Probe Over Embezzlement

PESHAWAR : The provincial government has been urged to form a high-level investigation committee to probe alleged corruption, nepotism, and mismanagement in the Elementary and Secondary Education Department.

Humayun Khan Gandapur, President of the Peshawar District ICA (Independent Consultants Association), issued a strong statement condemning the department’s reshuffling policy, which he claims is disrupting employees and damaging the department’s reputation. He warned that frequent transfer orders are negatively impacting children’s education and demanded an immediate review of the policy.

Gandapur also accused officials of embezzling billions of rupees in various projects. He highlighted that Rs. 6 billion were misappropriated in the Early Child Education furniture procurement, while Rs. 650 million were stolen in IT lab setups, solar system installations, and fuel expenses.

Further exposing irregularities, he alleged that influential individuals and children of retired employees were misusing the department’s official vehicles. He demanded an end to illegal demands for money from transferred employees and accountability for officials who have held key positions for over a decade.

The ICA President called for strict action against corruption and urged the government to launch a thorough investigation into the financial irregularities plaguing the education department.
