PESHAWAR: The Islamabad High Court has granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and renowned lawyer Salman Akram Raja till August 11 and issued notices to the federal government and Islamabad Police.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar heard Salman Akram Raja’s application, during which the PTI leader himself appeared in court and informed the court about the details of the cases registered against him.
Salman Akram Raja said that he had previously applied for details of the cases. According to the report, the first 10 cases had come up against him in Islamabad, however now another case of November 24 has also come up in Karachi Company Police Station, in which nonbailable arrest warrants have also been issued for him.
The PTI leader said that more FIRs may be registered against him, and there is no exact information about how many cases have been registered so far. He requested the court to grant him protective bail to appear in the courts until the complete details are revealed.
The court, while accepting Salman Akram Raja’s application, granted protective bail till August 11 and said that he should not be arrested during this period. The court has sought a response from the federal government and Islamabad Police on the matter.
