ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday restored the 2-day meeting with the PTI founding chairman Imran Khan.
The Islamabad High Court has ordered that there will be no media talk after the meeting with the founder of PTI.
A larger bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Muhammad Azam heard the petitions seeking restoration of meetings with Imran Khan.
Restoring the two-day meeting of Tuesday and Thursday, the Islamabad High Court ordered that whoever meets the founder of PTI will not hold any media talks. The court remarked that the name given by the coordinator of the founder of PTI, Salman Akram Raja, will only be able to meet him.
Acting Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar directed that the founder of PTI should apply to the trial court to meet his children. The petitions related to the founder of PTI’s prison visits were heard in the larger bench.
PTI lawyer says that the family and lawyer will be allowed to meet on Tuesday, and friends on Thursday.
The lawyer jail superintendent said that prison meetings were being held under the same SOPs till December, after January the status changed, and there were security threats, after that, we are conducting meetings of the founder PTI on Tuesdays as per the jail manual. The lawyer jail superintendent was of the view that after January the status of the founder PTI changed from under-trial prisoner to convicted prisoner.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said that the SOPs for the meeting on Tuesday and Thursday were fixed in the appeal.
Lawyer Naveed Malik was of the view that due to security threats, two meetings were held on Tuesday instead of two days, according to the jail rules, the superintendent of Adiala Jail has the authority, in such a situation, the superintendent has to schedule the meeting according to the rules. These jail meetings are used for political purposes.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that everyone comes with a request, what is the need for a media talk after the jail meeting? After this meeting, they leave, take an undertaking from them, and do not talk to the media after the prison meeting.
