PESHAWAR: Former MPA Shagufta Malik has strongly criticized the newly approved budget, saying it offers no relief to the public while increasing taxes on laborers and government employees.
Speaking on the Pakhtun Digital Podcast, Malik claimed that the budget has sparked nationwide protests as inflation is already at record highs, and additional taxes have worsened the financial struggles of ordinary citizens.
She acknowledged that passing the budget was a constitutional requirement, as failing to do so would have paralyzed the provincial system and halted all government spending.
Commenting on politics, Malik suggested that the current situation indicates Imran Khan has effectively been sidelined from power.
