Imran Khan supports conditional approval of budget, says Barrister Saif

Barrister Saif, PTI surprise

In a significant development, Barrister Dr. Saif met with Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to discuss pressing issues regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget. The meeting, which centred on both the budget and associated political concerns, highlighted the potential legal and constitutional dilemmas surrounding the budget approval process.

Barrister Dr. Saif conveyed the critical nature of timely budget approval, indicating that failure to do so within the constitutional timeframe could lead to serious consequences. He warned that delays could prevent the payment of salaries and fulfilment of government expenses, possibly plunging the province into a crisis.

The discussion also veered into the strategies employed by the opposition to thwart the budget’s approval. Dr. Saif informed Khan of a supposed conspiracy meeting held by the opposition at the Governor House, which outlined plans to block the budget. This prompted extensive consultations with constitutional experts on the matter.

In light of the discussions, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government deliberated on the budget during a parliamentary party meeting. Following these consultations, it was decided that the budget would be approved conditionally. This decision came after Ali Amin Gandapur and Muzammil Aslam’s engagement with Khan, suggesting that modifications to the budget may be feasible.

Imran Khan expressed his support for the conditional approval of the budget. Furthermore, after the discussions with Gandapur and Aslam, he directed that the budget be adjusted in line with his recommendations. Barrister Dr. Saif played a pivotal role in presenting the Chief Minister’s points and ensuring Khan was fully briefed on the budgetary matters.

The meeting underscores the complex interplay between legal guidelines and political manoeuvres in the current provincial landscape, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government strives to navigate these challenges effectively.
