India failed to achieve its military objectives in Operation Sandur: Field Marshal Asim Munir

India’s proxy war exposed, no compromise on Balochistan peace: Field Marshal Asim Munir

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir criticised India’s military and strategic performance during the recent operation, asserting that India failed to achieve its stated military objectives in Operation Sandur.

Asim visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, where he addressed the graduating officers of the Armed Forces undergoing the National Security and War Course. In a comprehensive and pointed address, Field Marshal Munir remarked that India’s failure, coupled with its attempts to offer illogical and inconsistent justifications, highlighted serious shortcomings in its operational preparedness and strategic foresight. He added that the operation serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of coherent military planning and realistic policy execution.

HighLighting the evolving nature of modern warfare, the Army Chief emphasised that future conflicts would require more than just technological superiority—they would demand mental preparedness, a deep practical understanding of strategic environments, and unwavering institutional competence. He urged the graduating officers to cultivate these traits to effectively meet emerging hybrid and conventional challenges.

Field Marshal Munir also stressed the significance of fostering civil-military harmony, underscoring that national security is a collective responsibility that extends beyond the battlefield. He stated that coordination and mutual respect between civilian leadership and military institutions are essential for long-term strategic stability.

Aiming for India’s broader regional posture, the Field Marshal criticised New Delhi’s attempts to internationalise a conflict that he characterised as purely bilateral. “Involving other countries in a regional dispute reflects a flawed and desperate political strategy,” he said.

He further added that India’s continued issuance of baseless statements and self-ascribed role as a “net security provider” in the region lacks credibility, especially as neighbouring countries grow increasingly wary of India’s aggressive stance and the spread of Hindutva ideology.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to national sovereignty, Field Marshal Munir concluded his address with a resolute warning: “Any attempt to harm or violate Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be met with an immediate, resolute, and forceful response. Our armed forces are fully prepared and capable of defending the nation against all threats.”
