India hiding behind false narrative to conceal truth: DG ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has accused India of propagating a false narrative to obscure its alleged acts of aggression and sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan.

In an interview with RT Arabic, Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that India’s Ministry of Defence had requested a ceasefire following recent cross-border tensions, a proposal Pakistan accepted in the interest of regional peace and stability.

“To understand the root of current hostilities, one must examine the broader regional context,” he said. “India has played an active role in supporting terrorism within Pakistan.”

Referring to the Pahalgam incident, he criticised Indian media for rushing to blame Pakistan. “Just minutes after the incident, Indian social and mainstream media hurled baseless accusations. Yet, two days later, India’s own Ministry of External Affairs admitted that investigations were still underway. How can such premature blame be justified?”

Chaudhry revealed that Pakistan had offered full cooperation for an impartial international investigation, which India declined. “Rather than choosing diplomacy, India responded with unilateral military actions. Missiles struck our mosques, killing women, children, and the elderly.”

He asserted that India, whom he labelled the “true sponsor of terrorism” in Pakistan, continues to support various extremist elements, including Khawarij factions and insurgents in Balochistan.

Detailing the recent military escalation, Chaudhry said India launched attacks on May 6 and 7, prompting the Pakistan Air Force to shoot down five Indian aircraft. “India followed up with more missile strikes on May 9 and 10, seemingly to spread fear. But they forget—Pakistan does not bow down.”

He added that Pakistan’s retaliatory response on May 10 was carefully measured, targeting only Indian military installations and avoiding civilian areas. “It was a balanced and proportionate reply.”

Following Pakistan’s restrained response, he said, it was India’s own defence ministry that sought a ceasefire. “We welcomed the initiative, as Pakistan prioritises peace,” he said, also commending the country’s diplomatic efforts throughout the crisis.

Lt Gen Chaudhry concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s stance: “We are not a violent nation. Pakistan is a responsible and mature state, and peace remains our foremost goal.”
