Interior Minister forms committee to investigate SIM data leak involving top govt officials

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has formed a committee to investigate the alarming leak of mobile SIM data belonging to key government officials and citizens.

According to reports, the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency has been mobilized, and a dedicated investigation team has been established. The team has been given a strict deadline of 14 days to complete the investigation and submit a detailed report regarding the leak of mobile SIM data.

The investigation team has been instructed to examine all aspects of the data leak and identify those involved in this illegal activity, ensuring that stringent legal action is taken against the culprits.

The Spokesperson of the Interior Ministry confirmed that the leaked data includes information related to federal ministers, government officials, senior officers, as well as ordinary citizens. The data reportedly available on the internet includes mobile SIM owners’ addresses, call records, copies of identification documents, overseas travel details, and other personal information being sold illegally.

The leaked data reportedly includes the records of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, officials from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and other important personalities. Following this revelation, the Ministry of Interior has initiated immediate strict measures to safeguard citizens’ data and prevent further breaches.
