Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air is set to redefine smartphone design with its ultra-slim profile, according to recent leaks. The device is expected to weigh just 145 grams and measure a mere 5.5mm in thickness, making it one of the thinnest and lightest iPhones ever. However, this sleek design may come with trade-offs, including a smaller 2,800mAh battery—significantly less than competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (3,900mAh) .
To compensate, Apple may use high-density silicon battery technology, which could boost the battery’s effective capacity by 15-20%. Reports suggest the company is working with supplier TDK to incorporate advanced silicon-anode batteries, enabling more energy storage in the same space .
The iPhone 17 Air is also rumored to feature a 6.6-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and could replace the iPhone 16 Plus in Apple’s lineup. Pricing is expected to start at $899 in the U.S., with potential adjustments due to global tariff pressures .
While the slim design is a standout feature, concerns remain about battery life. Some reports indicate Apple may offer an optional battery case to address this issue. The device is expected to launch in September 2025.
