Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Thursday announced Iran’s readiness to mediate between Pakistan and India to reduce regional tensions, emphasizing Tehran’s cultural and civilizational ties with both neighbors. The offer followed a phone call between Araqchi and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, where they discussed escalating Pakistan-India relations.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office rejected India’s “baseless allegations” during the talks and appreciated Iran’s peace-building efforts. The ministers also exchanged hopes for success in ongoing Iran-US negotiations in Muscat. Iran reiterated its commitment to leveraging diplomatic influence to stabilize South Asia.
