Iranian scholar arrested in Saudi Arabia over critical post

Iranian scholar Gholam Reza Qasemian has been arrested in Saudi Arabia for allegedly posting content critical of the Saudi government. The arrest occurred while Qasemian was in the country to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

Iran’s judiciary strongly condemned the detention, calling it “unfair and illegal,” and demanded his immediate release. So far, Saudi authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the arrest.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed concern over the incident, stating that such actions harm Muslim unity, particularly during the sacred Hajj season. He emphasized that Tehran would not let the incident undermine improving relations with Saudi Arabia.
