ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the recent cloudburst and flood damage in various parts of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that his heart is saddened by the flood disaster and the government is using all possible resources to provide all possible help to the affected families.

In a statement, Ishaq Dar said that federal and provincial government agencies, armed forces and local administrations are busy day and night in relief activities. He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also called an emergency meeting to review the situation, in which a relief plan for the affected areas was considered in detail.

Ishaq Dar said that his visit to the UK had been planned for a long time, however, in the context of the current situation, he decided to maintain only official meetings and cancel the scheduled meeting with the Pakistani community.

He said that this decision has been taken to express solidarity with the flood-affected families and to focus on relief operations. He appealed to the nation to pray for the affected people in this hour of trial and contribute to relief activities.

It should be noted that according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 307 people have died due to rains and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They include 279 men, 15 women and 13 children. Dozens of people have been injured and dozens of houses have been partially or completely damaged.
