ISLAMABAD: A local court issued arrest warrants on Monday for opposition leaders Omar Ayub, Aamir Dogar, and Aamir Mughal. They failed to appear in two cases related to violating Section 144.
Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Khan presided over the hearing. He accepted exemption pleas for PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan and Shoaib Shaheen. However, the court could not hear arguments on the acquittal applications.
Police had registered cases against Barrister Gohar and other PTI leaders at the I-9 police station. The court adjourned the hearing until April 23.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad granted bail to 56 PTI workers arrested in connection with the November 26 protest march. Each secured release against Rs5,000 surety bonds.
Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved their bail applications. Police had arrested them in cases filed at Tarnol and Kohsar stations after the November 26 protest. Advocate Sardar Busy represented them in court.
PTI launched a march from Peshawar to Islamabad on November 24, 2024. Bushra Bibi and the KP Chief Minister led the protest. They demanded the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
