Rawalpindi: Islamabad United kicked off their Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 campaign with a dominant eight-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Batting first, Lahore Qalandars struggled against a strong bowling attack and were bowled out for just 139 in 19.2 overs. Abdullah Shafique was the lone fighter, scoring 66 off 38 balls, while Jason Holder (4/26) and Shadab Khan (3/20) ripped through the batting lineup.
In reply, Islamabad chased down the target comfortably in 17.4 overs, losing only two wickets. Colin Munro led the charge with an unbeaten 59, supported by Salman Ali Agha (41). Lahore’s bowlers had little impact, with Haris Rauf and Abbas Afridi taking one wicket each.
Islamabad’s captain Shadab Khan’s decision to bowl first proved correct as his team outplayed Lahore in all departments.
