Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had a telephonic conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and condemned the illegal and barbaric bombing by Israel.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday, he said that “this act of Israeli aggression is a reflection of the extremist mentality of the Israeli leaders. The Israeli government can go to any extent to achieve its nefarious intentions.”
The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the context of regional stability and security. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Israel’s attack on Qatar, calling it a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On Tuesday, the Prime Minister wrote in a tweet that ‘On behalf of the people and the government, and in my personal capacity, I strongly condemn the illegal and serious bombing of a residential area by Israeli forces in Doha.’
He said that ‘the lives of innocent civilians were put at risk by this attack. Our deepest sympathies and solidarity are with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari royal family and the people of Qatar in this difficult time.
Shehbaz Sharif said that “this Israeli aggression is completely unjustified, a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a very dangerous provocation that could endanger regional peace and stability.”
He said that “Pakistan stands firmly with the State of Qatar, and expresses solidarity with the Palestinian people against Israeli aggression.”
On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “Pakistan condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli aggression against the brotherly country of Qatar. This highly provocative and reckless act is a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, as well as international law, the UN Charter and established principles governing inter-state relations.’ It further said that ‘this action by Israel is another manifestation of its continued disregard for international peace and security and its policy of destabilising the region. Pakistan has consistently said that the international community should not tolerate such impunity.’
