Jaffar Express resumes operations 16 days after terror attack

PESHAWAR: The Jaffar Express has resumed Quetta-Peshawar operations after a temporary suspension. The service was halted following a BLA attack in the Bolan area of Balochistan on March 11.

Today, the train service has been restored and the train left for Quetta from Peshawar.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, State and Frontier Regions Amir Muqam was present on the occasion.  The Jaffar Express travels between Peshawar and Quetta in 34 hours.

Amir Muqam stated that 300 passengers have reserved seats for travel. It showed that people strongly responded the terrorists that they are not afraid of them He said that Pakistan’s stability will not be paralyzed by such incidents. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He credited collective efforts for thwarting terrorism and noted that railway security was present at the time of the attack. He urged political unity to maintain peace and stability. He criticized PTI for focusing on Islamabad instead of provincial development.

He accused PTI of neglecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s progress and working for external interests. He claimed that PTI had ruled the province for 12 years but only prioritised political gains.

Regarding Afghan refugees, he stated that illegal residents will leave under government policy. He also noted that the provincial leadership did not participate in the train’s reopening. He criticised PTI for mismanaging the Ramadan package while praising Shahbaz Sharif for helping the poor across Pakistan.
