Jhagra answers PTI probe panel on corruption allegations

PESHAWAR: Former provincial minister Taimur Jhagra has submitted answers to 24 questions from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Internal Accountability Committee.

The three-member committee had sought his response on finance, health, and other issues on March 5.

In his response, Jhagra claimed a hidden campaign had targeted him for the past year. He stated that the same questions were previously asked by the caretaker prime minister through NAB and the anti-corruption department.

He argued that most of the queries were not related to a minister’s role but fell under departmental jurisdiction. He defended his tenure, saying he reduced the treasury’s burden and introduced pension reforms for the first time in Pakistan’s history.

Jhagra also praised the health department’s role during the COVID-19 crisis.

Tensions have escalated between Jhagra and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, with both using harsh words against each other.

Jhagra accused powerful figures of using NAB and other institutions against him. He claimed to know who was preventing his return to the cabinet and who was behind the campaign against him.
