PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) announced on Thursday that it will launch a protest movement throughout the province against severe gas load shedding in Peshawar and its suburbs, which has exacerbated the hardships faced by residents.
Abdul Wasi, the emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, addressed journalists on Thursday, stating that the ongoing gas load shedding is causing significant problems for domestic consumers.
He highlighted that due to low gas pressure and extensive load shedding, many households are unable to cook, leaving stoves cold and making life particularly challenging for women.
Wasi urged the government to promptly address the severe gas load shedding affecting Peshawar and its surrounding areas; otherwise, Jamaat-e-Islami will initiate a full-scale protest movement.
He noted that low gas pressure is severely impacting domestic consumers, particularly hindering women’s ability to prepare breakfast in the mornings. As a result, many children are forced to attend school without having eaten.
He pointed out that while the people of the province are grappling with issues like unrest, inflation, unemployment, and street crime, the government is further complicating their lives with ongoing electricity and gas shortages.
