JIT again summons PTI leaders over negative propaganda on Social Media

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gauhar appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on charges of negative propaganda on social media.

According to sources, Barrister Gauhar answered the JIT’s questions for about an hour and a half.

The JIT asked him detailed questions related to social media, to which he provided answers.

This was the second time that Barrister Gauhar appeared before the JIT.

The JIT, formed by the federal government, had also summoned 15 other PTI leaders today. The investigation process is underway under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, in which PTI leaders are being questioned regarding these allegations.

JIT summons 25 PTI leaders involved in negative propaganda

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned 25 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and members of the social media team again on charges of involvement in anti-state propaganda.

According to sources, the JIT had summoned 25 PTI members for investigation on March 7, 2025, including Barrister Gohar, Rauf Hassan and Shah Farman. During the investigation, the JIT questioned the PTI leaders for five hours.

Sources say that Shah Farman’s behavior during the investigation was inappropriate, on which the JIT asked him additional and tough questions.

The JIT has summoned several PTI leaders and members of the social media team again on March 11, 2025, including Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Muhammad Hammad Raza, Aun Abbas, Alia Hamza Malik, Kanwal Shozab, Asad Qaiser, and others.

According to sources, an investigation is underway against these individuals under the anti-state propaganda case. The JIT has been constituted under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and is functioning under the chairmanship of the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad.

All the summoned individuals have been warned to join the investigation and clarify their position.
