The Judicial Commission appointed the permanent Chief Justices for the High Courts of Islamabad, Peshawar, Balochistan, and Sindh.
According to reports from a private TV channel, the meeting of the Judicial Commission was chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. During the meeting, the candidates for the position of Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court were discussed. The names considered included Justice SM Atiq Shah, Justice Ijaz Anwar, and Justice Arshad Ali. Ultimately, Justice SM Atiq Shah was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.
For the Balochistan High Court, the names of Justice Rozi Khan, Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan, and Justice Iqbal Ahmed Kasi were reviewed. Sources indicate that Justice Rozi Khan, who is at the top of the seniority list, was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court.
In addition, the Judicial Commission approved the appointment of Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar as the permanent Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court. Justice Junaid Ghaffar is also the most senior judge in the Sindh High Court, and his appointment was unanimous.
The meeting also addressed the appointment of the permanent Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, where the names of Justice Sarfaraz Dogar, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani, and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb were considered. Eventually, Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar, who is first in the seniority list, was appointed as the permanent Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court by a majority vote.
Following the decisions made in the meeting, the Judicial Commission informed Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif through a letter about the appointments of the Chief Justices for the four High Courts, including Islamabad. The Secretary of the Judicial Commission communicated the names of these Chief Justices to the Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister.
The letter indicated that Justice Atiq Shah was appointed as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Sarfaraz Dogar as Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Rozi Khan as Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, and Justice Junaid Ghaffar as Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, all by majority votes.
Additionally, the letter mentioned that the Prime Minister should proceed with the appointment of judges under sub-clause 8 of Article 175A.
