PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) provincial lawmaker Adnan Khan has dismissed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government’s claims of presenting a tax-free budget, calling it a “word game.”
In an exclusive interview with Pakhtun Digital, Adnan argued that while no new taxes were introduced, the government had increased the burden of existing taxes.
He highlighted the education sector, where private schools will now pay Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 in taxes based on their category, while degree colleges could face levies of up to Rs 200,000.
“Who will ultimately bear the cost of these taxes? The public,” Adanan questioned.
He criticized the KP government, accusing it of relying on “social media and Facebook propaganda” rather than delivering tangible results.
However, he acknowledged some positive measures, such as the exemption of taxes on 4.9-Marla plots, which he said would benefit the poor and middle class
